About Me
My name is Václav Batelka, and I'm the person behind the ChampRack project.
It all started with an idea to create a rack that would be not only practical but also meaningful. The gear we use in sports often goes through a lot with us. It's there for the moments we want to remember – and yet, after the game, we often toss it into a dark corner or hide it away in a closet. I wanted to find a better way – something that gives these things a proper place, keeps them in sight, and lets us relive those great sports moments again. Something that works both technically and visually, without being flashy.
The Collaboration That Got Things Started
At the beginning, I was developing the rack together with my friend and colleague Michal Valík. We work together on the development of electron microscopes, so attention to detail and precision are second nature to us. Thanks to our shared experience with technical design and precise manufacturing, we created a rack with a solid structure, well-balanced proportions, and a clean look.
When designing it, we took inspiration from the golden ratio – a proportion that naturally appears in architecture and nature and is widely seen as harmonious. It helped the rack feel balanced and visually comfortable even in spaces where every detail stands out.
The Path to Production
After the initial designs, we reached out to several Czech companies who helped us bring the idea to life – from precision laser cutting and powder coating to stainless steel screw finishing. Every single part is made exclusively in the Czech Republic, which is a key part of the project for me – and something I’m truly proud of. Working with people who know their craft moved the idea from paper to reality.
We tested and fine-tuned every prototype. Over time, the final version took shape – one that delivers technical function, long-lasting quality, and a subtle yet confident presence.
Today
Today, I run the entire project on my own – from design to packaging. I personally inspect each piece. I work with materials I trust and pay close attention to the details that may not be immediately visible but make a difference in everyday use.
I designed the rack to be functional, balanced, and meaningful. Not just as an object, but as a quiet reminder of everything behind a sports performance. If that resonates with you, I’ll be glad if ChampRack finds a place in your home too.
